We're about halfway throw the tourny at this point. Started with 200 players and 100 are left. Is this a bad call? I figured that he was pretty short and 44 beats his range.

I don't like it. Either it's a flip or you're significantly behind by a higher pp. SB may be desperate, but you have a decent stack and a high enough M to fold this.

You need a better hand to call a raise than you do than make a raise.
