Celtics lineup tonight (vs. Florida)

I know there's an NBA thread, but this is seriously one of the most absurd things I have ever seen in professional sports.

Due to injuries to the following players: Wally Szczerbiak, Theo Ratliff, Paul Pierce, Delonte West, Tony Allen, and Brian Scalabrine, the Celtics have been left with the following players:

PG- Sebastian Telfair - 21
SG- Gerald Green- 21
SF- Ryan Gomes- 24
PF- Al Jefferson- 22
C- Kendrick Perkins- 22

with a bench of Allan Ray (22), Rajon Rondo (20), and Michael Olowakandi (31, the lone exception), and Leon Powe (22).

What is noticeable about this, is that not only are these guys young, but 6 of the 9 should still be in college, and two were on the roster to never be used, just fill out the numbers (A. Ray and Kandi).

Just thought it was kind of cool.

Now the question, how would a roster of:

Telfair-Rondo-Green-Jefferson-Perkins with Leon Powe off the bench do against Florida (assuming Gomes, Ray, and Kandi can't play) and the Celtics get two more replacement level bench players??

IMO it would be a very tightly contested game, which says something about both teams. Any chance these two could get a "friendly" against each other?

I would think Florida would win simply because they probably play better as a team.

didnt know telfair was that young, if what you say is true i should fade the hell out of the celtics as long as they have this lineup

The Celtics would win and I don't think it would be close.

You can debate whether or not they are the best team in CBB (which I think they are), but there's no doubt in my mind they would have the best shot against NBA players, because they have the most NBA prospects.

Also....assume college 3 point line and rules as well.

I really think this would be an awesome game.

Oh man this is rough.

My pick is the Celtics in a close one, and I think Jefferson is the key. If he were to get hurt in the first quarter, the Celts could lose.

ps. Do you guys love Telfair enough to refer to him as "Bassy" yet?

actually after further thought no way it's close, there is a big difference between nba prospects and proven nba players

With Doc at the helm it could make things interesting, but Artdogg pretty much nailed it. Al Jefferson would dominate. Kendrick would bust people up for boards. Gomes would register an easy double double. Bassy would have a free pass to the hoop. Powe was a 20/10 guy in the Pac 10... he'd bust people up off the bench.

The only hope would be the college rules, mainly, 5 fouls. Kendrick and Big Al could get in trouble. Then it could get interesting... maybe.

Oh.. just noticed the non-Gomes thing.. They'd still win by a good margin.

Look at it this way. Allan Ray is probably our biggest scrub, and unless he improves a lot he won't be in the league long. He was a PIMP at Villanova. These NBA prospects at Florida are just that.
