diversification help

i am a mid stakes poker player of about 2 years. i make good money comparitavly but nothing amazing. im only 21 but i feel like if poker takes a turn in the future i would like to have financial stability through other means. even if poker continues upward and i become a high stakes player it would be nice to have money coming in from other sources. i recently bought a condo as a rental so that if poker did turn for the worse at least i would have somthing to show for it. anyway im investing about 20k with a broker this week but i have more money that i dont really need for bankroll but dont know what to do with otherwise. any advice or any ppl in the same boat with ideas?

Re: diversification help

Invest with index funds. They are very diversified and low cost. What kind of time horizon is this for? Retirement? 5 years? Also, what is your subjective risk tolerance? You probably want a portfolio with some ETFs. ifa.com is a snazzy website that's a good introduction to investing if you want to read and learn more. Also, you can search for other threads similar to yours.

Re: diversification help

ive been told index funds by other sources so i will probably look into that. like i said im only 21 so i can afford to take more risk then probably most ppl because i dont have a family or retirement riding on my investment so i would like to get into somthing that is fairly secure but with risk enough that pulling 20% or more is a possibility
