Accepting money orders?

I have a guy in a different state wanting to buy some products from my website. I usually deal exclusively through ebay, and have never accepted a money order as a form of payment.

I'm selling player piano rolls, so chances are it's just an old guy who doesn't understand ebay.

As long as I get the cash before I ship, and he doesn't ask me to send him money or anything weird like that, is this a pretty safe way to deal with people?

It's only like a $60 deal, so I really don't think it's a scam. He just wants to pay western union. You guys think it's safe? Anything I should be aware of? Thanks.

Provided you wait til it actually clears.

Banks will "cash" $1000 money orders all day long immediately.....but if they are later found out to be "modified" $100 money orders, they'll charge it back to your account.

Wait til the MO actually CLEARS and not just until you have cash in hand.

Make him go to the post office and get one there - that has to be safer than some random check cashing place
