How do I get started in PLO?

I'm played Hold'em for a living for several years, but I'm looking to get into PLO. I understand poker concepts, but have nothing more than casual experience in PLO. What's the best way to get started in this game? Which book(s) should I pick up that are geared toward beginners? Any other quick tips to get me started? Thanks

Ciaffone, then Reuben, then Slotboom. Maybe some Cloutier from time to time as well.

I remember that a long time ago (2 years, maybe) crockpot had written a very good beginners' guide for PLO. If it is no longer on line, I think I have it somewhere on my computer but it would not be very polite to post it without permission.

edit : ok this is here : http://winningonlinepoker.com/

1) Read above books.

2) Start playing without realising the bankroll requirements for PLO are way higher.

3) Loose lots of money on overpairs and non-nut draws.

4) Try playing NLHE and realise it bores you to death after playing PLO

5) Read above books again.

6) Identify holes in your game

7) Step down limits and start crushing games

8) Specialise in shorthanded and HU

9) Dominate and start stepping up the limits again.

…..

Worked for me anyway.

My suggesions from experience would be:

1) Read the Ciaffone book, save the other ones until you've been playing PLO for a while.

2) Play very tight before the flop to avoid marginal situations after the flop.

3) Start out by drawing to and betting only the nuts. It's ok to bet top two pair or non-nut sets but don't go broke with them.

4) Don't build big pots with aces or kings.

5) Never play the nuts or good hands passively. For example if you flop the nut flush, lead out.

Basically what I did when I started out was nut peddled and never raised before the flop. Now I play completely differently but I was a winning player at low stakes playing this way and gained a lot of experience and reading skills.

Skip the books and follow most of the other advice above. Play, play, play and write your own book.
