Networking my computers

I want to share files. How do I do this in XP? They both seem to access my network, but say I don't have permission to access the other computer. I tried windows networking wizard, and the wireless networking wizard in XP. I used to do this on a wired 98 network, but it's been a couple years and I'm rusty. What should I do?

type in windows explorer (from the other computer):

\\<IP address of the XP comp>\C$

Then enter Administrator and the password (which likely could be blank)

Hopefully that set off a light bulb and scared you a lil

I'll leave it so someone else to walk you through the "normal" way to do it.

this is the way that I would do it, too. otherwise, if you literally "share" the C drive, it will not let you access things such as Program Files, etc.

best way to map a drive is using the hidden share as administrator, IMO.

only thing I might do...is actually map the drive and have it reconnect at logon.

you can do this by right-clicking My Computer, Map Network Drive. enter location (\\computer\c$) and choose Use Different Username and supply that computers administrator account and password. check the box that says Reconnect at Logon.
