Peter Luger\'s reservations
 

Google search results say that reservations should be made at least 2 weeks in advance. What are the chances of me getting a one for this week for a group of 4 at the Brooklyn location? Does anyone know if there's a difference between the one in Brooklyn and the one in Great Neck (in food and in getting a reservation)?

also why not just call them when they open? seems much more practical. unless of course you must know at this moment of 5:14am.

I never ate in the one on L.I. but someone I trust told me that it wasn't nearly as good as the one in the city. His opinion was that the ovens that they use in Brooklyn can't be duplicated. This was quite a few years ago so I don't know if things have changed.

I went last Sunday and we called for reservations that morning - they happened to have a cancellation. Just call and see.

I've been to the LI location as well, but it was years ago so I don't know the difference.

Make sure you order the Canadian bacon, one slice for each of you. And get dessert.

brooklyn = wood fired stoves
great neck = gas stoves

go brooklyn if it's your first time, even though both are excellent.

Obviously it depends on what day/time you want to go. I've made reservations late on a weekday 24 hours in advance, I also went once without a reservation and waited about an hour. I've made reservations for bigger parties (7 people) 5 days in advance for a Saturday night and been fine.

The main difference between the Brooklyn and Great Neck locations is atmosphere. Great Neck is much fancier (white table cloths, quieter, less people hustling around) while the Brooklyn one is sort of an "old boys club" with beer-stained wood tables. If you're going with people that want it to be fancier I guess Great Neck might be better, but I enjoy the Brooklyn location a lot more.

How bout you just call them?

If you just want to announce to OOT that you are going to Luger's, just say so and don't try to hide it in some pointless post.

I've been to both locations many times and don't think anyone could tell the difference. If I took a steak from each place had you eat them side by side, I doubt you could reliablly tell me which place it was from.

I would assume that Great Neck is easier to get into. I've gone there a bunch of times without a reservation.

I would go to Brooklyn if I could. It is a better atmosphere.

P.S. I had no idea that going to Peter Luger's was a brag. You guys must be poor as [censored].
