AC poker dealing job

Any AC poker room employees who surf these boards hiring?
I just got my license about a month ago. I filled out a couple online applications but have not heard anything. Im thinking about taking a day off and going threw every poker room in AC and asking if there looking for dealers. I know im as good/better then a good percentage of the dealers I experience in poker rooms, except the dude at the borgata with the fastest flop in the world haha

Suggestions or help be awesome...

Get about five friends, work on signals and your collusion game. Then, just sit and earn money while screwing over people like me.

Where did you go to school? If you did they'll probably be having a job fair in the next few months.

I suggest you go to college during college and learn things like through/threw and there/their. Otherwise, yes, you could be a poker dealer for a career in which case it is a good idea to start talking with management in the poker rooms. Many rooms are always auditing and hiring and most could use young "college" guys on their staffs. Enthusiasm is key when talking with management as they have to believe you'll love to work in a poker room and be able to handle the worse shifts and tournament dealing and no benefits for awhile. Good luck and start drilling for your audition.

Last I heard Harrah's was looking, and some of the places want temp help for tourneys. I'd also recommend going to the employment offices in person, rather than just doing it online .

It's the off-season too, and with the Sands closing there's a little added competition out there now. Otherwise what CC said.

Check out the Resorts/Hilton office too, I heard Hilton is looking for poker dealers.

Probably too late to help but absolutely no one is hiring poker dealers right now except MAYBE Hilton and they really would prefer you you deal BJ as well. Saturation of the poker dealing market has been coming for a while, many other positions including pit dealers within the casinos have been applying for transfer because the money is often better and more consistent. Waiting lists are filled with current poker room employees (cashiers, clerks even security) looking to move to dealing. Let's face it, AC poker dealers are over paid currently for the job they do and thus the market crunch.

Your best chance is in the spring as things pick up, also the Borgata is hiring temps for the Winter Open which is usually a good way to get your foot in the door but that doesn't sound like it'll work for you.

Eh, I disagree that AC dealers are "overpaid" - how can any occupation that depends on tips really be overpaid? Especially when you consider all of the drawbacks. Many are let go during the slow months, many others can't get full time hours and benefits. And of course, they take crap that would get you thrown out of just about any other business establishment.

Then, don't forget the cost of the 2-1 license out here, and of course you have to pay the tuition and take your classes.

The market crunch you're talking about has more to to with the time of year it is, and the fact that one of our casinos just closed down (we only have about 13-14 casinos to begin with, so that's a fair percentage of dealers out of work right now).

A good bartender or waitress in a busy restaurant can make what a dealer makes in the typical AC house, aside from the Borgata, and they don't have to jump through as many hoops.
