Calling a raise with AQs and miss the flop

180 players on PS. around 36 left.

Vilain (8000 chips) is MP and raises to 1200 (3xBB).
Folded to me (8000 chips) in BB with AQs.

Do you call or raise? I would raise a LP (CO or Button) but only called a MP raise. The player is not loose, maybe a little tight.

Flop is 3 rag (9 high).

Do you give it up? or bet and if you are called or raised you give it up?

I would probably push preflop, but calling is OK.

On the flop, you can check/fold, lead/fold, or checkraise.

There is no right answer as to how to play this hand, preflop or postflop.

Re: Calling a raise with AQs and miss the flop

Hero's M is 12 preflop. It would only go to about 11 after this hand (assuming you call pf, miss, and check fold).

I would make the decision based on the time until the next blind levels. If it is very soon going to 300/600, the M is going to quickly be down to just 7 and time to start looking for situations to push.

If it is not changing anytime soon, I would play it like you did pf and check fold given that I missed and given my read on my opponent.

AQs is plenty good to push pf here IMO, but I would have to see exactly how much time I would have left with my current stack size.

My first instinct is to push preflop as betgo suggested but after rereading your post you said the player is a "little" tight.

So, here is the range I would put him on(I'm new at this though), 77-AA, AKs-A9s, AKo-ATo, KQs, KQo, QJs, KJs.

According to pokerstove (I'm just learning to utilize this as well) it says you are a 3-2 dog vs that range of hands.

Is the player tight enough to fold to a push? What is your current image?

If he has proven that he will fold to an allin reraise and you are percieved as tight then I would push.

Why wouldn't you rerase a MP raise? I actually think reraising to say T3000 has it's merits. By reraising you are taking control of the hand and now putting him to a decision. You may win the hand preflop. I would rather be dictating how the hand will be played instead of calling and guessing out of position.

If he comes over the top you know where you stand and muck. If he calls push on the flop.

If you are going to play this hand I thik you need to play it strong or not at all.
