I am going to Destin Florida tomorrow
 

So I am heading down to Destin Florida tomorrow and I am trying to see if anyone knows of anything fun/exciting to do down there. Money isn't an issue so all ideas are welcome. My grandparents have a place on the beach they are letting me stay at so that is going to be cool. Also, do any OOTers live in that area?

Go fishing and then and drive over to the Beau Rivage in Biloxi and do some more fishing. And stop at Sammy's on the way...

seriously though, i lived in pensacola, so have been to destin a number of times, but can't really recommend much to do. as far as i know, it's pretty dead this time of year.. and the panhandle really isn't known for "fun and exciting"

go to Dewey Destin's. It's an awesome sea food place. Kinda joint where you can dock your boat and order your food. Great food too.

OP, what kinda "fun" are you trying to get into?

I've stayed there for up to a month at a time multiple times. Just let me know what you're looking at and I can probably point you in the right direction.

Hell, depending on what you want, I can probably even find people for you meet up with and show you around.

I ran around naked on the beach at night with my girlfriend back in 2000 down there and we boinked hard there.

Destin's kind of boring imo.
As someone mentioned, depends on what kind of 'fun' you're looking for though.


I head there 3-4 times a year because my parents and sister live there.

My GF and her family freaking love it there.
They stay at a condo place called GulfView 2 I think.
Doesn't look like THAT much from the outside. But the units are fairly nice and the price is reasonable.
They like it so much that they pretty much ONLY want to stay there.


Louisiana Lagnappe is a decent restaurant. Wasn't my favorite but my Dad and his GF brag about it and rate it highly.
I guess I would rate it a 7+ or so.
Maybe my Dad talked it up to me so much that there was no way it could live up to expectations.


Graffiti's is a decent casual restaurant with some wacky art on the walls. Lots of fun. Pretty good food.
We make one stop at Graffiti's on practically every trip we go there.


Kuvee Beach is rated pretty highly for cuisine as well.
Again, like Lagnappe, I wasn't disappointed, but it didn't exactly thrill me either.


There are quite a few other restaurants that I like but I can never remember the names of them.
If you really want more input then I'm guessing my GF will remember more of the names of the different places we go to.

Some really good sushi on the 2nd floor of some converted condo place (better than the sushi we can get in Memphis at least).
It's across from the beach on old 98. Arrrgh, names escape me. I just call it, "that sushi place" and my Mom or sister knows what I mean.


For drinking at an ocean-side bar we hit Pompano Joe's or one of those types of places.


GF works on weekends. So our Destin trips are usually Monday-Friday.
So for weekend nightlife in Destin I'm not terribly knowledgeable.
Pomano Joe's closed at 10pm or something on a Tuesday the last time we were there.

There's some blues bar with live music attached to Graffiti's which may have some potential.


Usually we are visiting my family or going to the beach all day anyway and are pretty wiped-out to do too much late-night stuff.
