JJ, wtf action

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Button (t1690)
SB (t1910)
BB (t1450)
UTG (t2220)
Hero (t1910)
MP1 (t90)
MP2 (t1450)
MP3 (t1840)
CO (t940)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises to t40</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to t120</font>, MP1 calls t90 (All-In), <font color="#CC3333">MP2 raises to t200</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, CO calls t200, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises to t280</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, UTG calls t240

so i should probably call for set value

if a flop like 742 came, then what?

cause overcards = instafold, and set = bettin out, but how about an all undercard flop?

check-fold, probably. Is this preflop action ever not at least one of AA-QQ, at most none of which are folding?

I'm not folding preflop here.

Seeing a flop could be trouble if you don't flop a set. I have no idea what to think of UTG min-raise than overcalling 240 more.

Only player I'm concerned about at all is the button. If you shove, You'll probably get called by the button with a large range of hands. I would figure UTG would finally get the hint and fold. But button came over the top of a raise, re-raise and a re-re-raise. I know micro-limit players are generally donks, but even the undead wouldn't throw in another raise unless they actually had a solid hand.

If it's one of those $3 MTTs with 1000+ players, then you might be better off shoving. To win one of those tourneys, you really have to roll the dice in these big pots. I think you're against a strong ace here though. I would imagine that a monster hand would call and try to suck more out of you then.

call preflop on pure pot odds, nevermind implied odds. Unless you spike your set, then c/f.

Pushing this preflop is a huge spew.

Early in a $3 it's closer than you think. I still probably call for set value here, but I'm consistently shocked to see the types of hands people will reraise with in small buy-in tourneys. Any PP, any suited broadway, any ace is the nuts.

In that kind of donk-fest, I don't think there's any way to fold the Jacks preflop. With a weak flop like that and the preflop action to your left, I'd definitely be looking to check raise jam and hopefully get head-up against an AK or AQ, or take the pot down without a challenge. There's a chance of being against a bigger pair or a little set, but it's early and you still have a lot of chip building to do to get any money.

Uh yeah. This is a preflop PUUUUUUUUSH. No explanation needed. With this betting pattern, it couldnt possibly be anything but a low buyin donkament. Thank you DONKS!
