Important - We will never be in the clear...
 

This is not the time to start relaxing on the effort that everyone has made. As long as a bill or a law can be created that will stop us from enjoying online poker, then we will NEVER be in the clear. For the moment, until we are officially in the clear with the current bill, we should be constantly trying to contact our represenatives and getting our friends, family, co-workers, etc to call as well.

What we should be talking about is:

What permanent solution can we work toward?
What work around can we figure out if the worst were to happen?

All I'm saying is we need to figure out a solution now, instead of waiting for the worst to happen.

Are you going to check down and hope you have the better hand, hope everything works out or are you going to raise now, be proactive to see if we can get them to lay their hand down and accept poker as an enjoyable past time that is here to stay.

I have no idea, I just know that if we just celebrate now and do nothing, we could be in the same situation or worst, next year, or even sooner.

North Dakota legalization is a decent first step, if you feel the need to use some money or effort in a long-term proactive way.

This is probably quite true. If North Dakota were to be successful in legalizing online poker in their State, I think it would be just a matter of time before the rest of the states would fall like dominos, and also legalize it.

How many states do not sponsor some sort of lottery?

Seems to me the PPA and online sites should be explaining to every state why it would be in that State's financial interest to legalize online poker. Get more State reps like the one from North Dakota that is pushing it and I think this could happen quickly.

I think the best thing to do would be to encourage your senator to support the proposal to study online poker/gambling. The only way to make sure that we are in the clear is to have poker regulated in the US.

States don't like forms of gambling where their house edge is under 50 percent.

Don't forget---less than twenty years ago, if you wanted to gamble in a casino, you went to LV, Reno, or Atlantic City. There was no Tunica, nor riverboat casinos throughout the Midwest. (or tribal casinos anywhere they had tribal land to build on.)

All the "boats" are a part of the domino effect from the initial legalization of riverboat gambling by Mississippi and Iowa.

If this legislation is passed something dire will have to be done to reverse it.

Maybe we should organize a national "Play poker for Freedom day" and encourage players all over the country to meet and storm local banks to set up on the spot card games, complete with chips, right in the lobbys.

If that could be done in an orderly fashion, the sight of 100s of young Americans being carted off to jail will kill this bill on the spot...and will result in what we need, which is legislation to regulate the industry.

Poker players are baller enough to do this.
