How long to get good at chinese poker?

I want to play 40-80 - 100-200 mixed in LA and Vegas, perhaps higher.

How long does it take to get good at Chinese poker (I mean maybe 99% perfect, as opposed to 99.9 or whatever). I have seen this game in the mix, understand the basic rules but know nothing else. I'm relatively smart / driven whne it comes to learning.

Read the FAQ, get Don Somolen's simulator, it will teach you everything you need to know.

It dosen't hurt to get in some hands in also. Play with a buddy or just deal out some hands yourself and you can get use to setting the best hand.

Its a great game.

IIRC there is a book out also, its not much of a book just some copy paper and a binder. I think I saw it at the gamblers general store in Vegas. Maybe someone else will know better.

The book is no longer in print, but you can still order the program and book from Smolens' website. You get the book as a Word document.

If you want to get in some practice, try the Tigergaming play money tables.

Unlike other forms of poker, CP is interesting enough even without cash at stake that people at least try to play well.

I don't think it was ever "in print". The Gamblers Bookstore used to sell a photocopy of the book bound with the permission of Don Somolen. Best deal is the word document/simulator bundle.

10 hours of study/practice and you will play nearly perfect (using the mentioned resources).

I'm not a great chinese player, but I've introduced it to my friends and they've slowly come around. We played basic chinese then I introduced the clean sweaps and bonus hands. Now I'm thinking about adding the 2/4 or 1/6 scoring.
