MGM and Motor city are in areas you don't want to walk outside the Casino and even the parking garage is not the safest place.

Greektown is not a real bad area. But it is Detroit...

If you park in the structure in Motor City you're OK. VAlet is OK too. Greektown's structure is safe as long as you're in the one that's not near the freeway. Avoid that structure at all costs. I have heard of many people getting mugged there. All in all it's not bad, but it always helps to be careful.

FWIW the games suck as you'll read on these boards.

MGM is right near the expressway and that area really isn't as bad as, say, Motor City

That Greektown structure has been torn down as part of the "permenant" casino/hotel addition to Greektown. I used it all the time without a single issue. Of course, I made a point of parking as close to the stairwell as possible, and when I could I went back to my car near another person/group of person, and sometimes with my pocket knife open in my pocket.

Really? I've only been once (this week actually) but the limit games were very soft.

Everytime I see a question such as this, it makes me wonder about the extent to which Detroit locals must be getting financially killed by those three casinos. Those casinos are making money despite the absence of tourists. Those three joints are probably keeping everyone in town broke. "Locals" includes those just across the Michigan-Ohio stateline.

You can visit Motor City Casino by vehicle in such a manner that you never see any of Detroit, if you don't make any wrong turns getting off and back on the expressway (right at the casino).
