For those who listen to music while they play, god forbid (live or net)… do you ever find the music affects (effects?) your play?

i CANNOT play online without music. i used to have a poker list, but recently have gotten into listening to CD's straight through.

Music helps me when playing online. Stuff like Hallucinogen (what is it, trance, techno? I'm not up on the lingo) is good and tunes that I am familiar with. I find unfamiliar rock tunes tend to distract me.

I like to mix it up. If I'm playing a long session live I usually don't have music on, but will put it on for a little bit in the middle of the session.

Same for online, though I usually have the music come more frequently.

For live, it sometimes helps a bit to zone in on tells...

i need something on all the time, either movies in the background or music.

I find that i dont really hear the music after i get in the groove so i just pick a spot in my itunes library and let it go.

This is link to a post I did a coupla months ago, on a blog that is still up but unused for awhile, due to technical issues. Anyway, I've gotten some positive response on it. This reflects, obviously, my personal tastes, and obssessions at the moment, nothing in stone.

Again, this is utilitarian in it's focus. Aesthetically, the Drive-By Truckers rule, the new Raul Malo is incredible, the Matthew Sweet reissue of "Girlfriend" proves it's classic status, and "Let It Bleed" by the Rolling Stones is STILL the greatest Rock and Roll record of all time...

Hallucinogen is AWESOME! although i prefer the grateful dead while playing.... a lot of their songs are about cards

It took me a while to compile enough music without vocals. With vocals, I get distracted. I too like the transe-techno style music, like Chemical Brothers which is also good on airplanes when you want to zone out and snooze.

I am positively (A)ffected by the music. The (E)ffect is +EV.

I agree with the no vocals. Maybe in a full ring game where you need to be more patient but definitly not short handed. I find some of my best sessions are with no music though. All in all I mix it up.. 1 thing though is LOUD LOUD music is bad.. I just dunno what the hell is going on.. usuually do it when I'm drunk.

buena vista social club is always good
