German Food
Went to Red Lion Tavern last night - I don't eat German food alot, but I should, damn, that [censored] is good. I know nothing about it. What German food do you guys recommend? I get the feeling this may quickly degenerate into a German beer thread, but that's OK too
What I ate / tried last night: Sausage platter (comes with mix of Bockwurst, Bratwurst, Knockwurst, and Wienerwurst, but we just had them bring all Bratwurst) Potato Pancakes w/Apple & Cranberry Sauce Schnitzel w/Fried Egg and Anchovy Hungarian Goulash What I drank: Spaten Optimator Maybe some Water Wiki German Cuisine Entry For Your Reference -Al |

Re: German Food
I'd committ murder for good wiener schnitzel. Beefrouladen (sp?) is also good, it's thin slices of beef wrapped around either asparagus or a pickle, they look like beef croissants.

Re: German Food
Yay, I finally get to go home this month for my once a year visit to Germany (where my parents live).
As far as food, I love whats is called Karottensalat (Carrot salad). Delicious and easy to make. My all time favorite is called Apfelschmarren. This is an apple, scrambled egg, cinnamon combo that is generally eaten as a light dinner or desert. The ladies really like it as drunk after-bar food. Recipes availiable upon request. |
