Etymotics ER-6i's. $150 in store, $100ish on Amazon. Best in ear noise cancelling headphones I've ever used and it's not even close.

I have to agree with bdams99, the Bose Quiet Comfort 2s ($300) are awesome. I just got a pair myself and am amazed with the noise cancellation and sound quality.

I have a 250$ pair of noise cancellation sennheisers.

I did a bunch of research before I bought them, and they're top of the line.

headphones or earphones? for earphones, go with UM-2 ($300). The ER-6 and Shures are too tinny and harsh.

You looking for cans, buds, or what?

For cans, the Sennheiser 280's mentioned above are great. I got mine for $100, and they're pretty much the best value anywhere near that range.

I got them from either amazon or http://www.headphone.com/

EDIT: Oh, avoid Bose at all cost. Or just head over to www.avsforum.com and ask them what they think of Bose products.

these are awesome. i would never use anything else for in-ear headphones. i also have the bose quiet comfort 2s. but i rarely use my headphones at my desk, and they are too bulky to be carrying around with my ipod.
