Going to Vegas soon - where are the best tournaments?
 

I'm planning a trip soon to LV. I was wondering where the best tournaments in town were. I'm looking for something in the $150-$500 range buy-in. I'm looking for the best structured tournaments. Nice fat starting stacks and slow blind increases. I'd be willing to spend more if anyone could recommend any satellites that are well-structured into bigger events. Any info about your experiences with a certain tournment or any you would recommend from hearsay would be awesome, thanks.

Caesars and Wynn run the best tournies in your price range. For something more insightful, try the search feature, these tournies hav been discussed many times.

My favorite structured tourney in town is the Wynn Daily. It's 330 M-T and 550 F. 3000 chips to start, 25/50, 45 minute levels. Last time I played I busted 12th and got 7 hours of play. Usually attracts 80-100ish.

Ceasar's has two daily tournaments. One at Noon and the other at 7PM. Buy-in is $120 for 1500 chips, and you can take one $100 add-on anytime during the 1st two levels for 3000 in chips. So from my point of view, it is a $220 tourny for 4500 in chips. Blinds start at 25/25 and rounds are 40 minutes long. The night I played in it, there were ~131 players.

I thought the noon Caesar's tourney was an $80 buy-in with a $50 rebuy?

When I at the Wynn in June it had around 35 players on the three days I played in it. The people there expected it to pick up once people got into town for the World Series so maybe now it is getting more players.

Also, maybe consider the Venetian tournaments. They were at 12 and 8:00 daily. Total buyin with rebuy/add-on is $180 and this gets you ~4000 chips. I think it was 30 minute levels. The blind structure is decent, the players are bad.

The Caesar's noon tourney is popular and attracts 100+ players. I'm not sure how the 7pm tourney is drawing during the WSOP but it had been 30 to 40 players prior to the series.

Another good buy-in and structure to consider is the Venetian's two dailys. Noon and 8pm. Both are $150 + 15 buy-in (1,500 chips) with one $50 re-buy (1,500 chips) and a $5 dealer bonus (1,000 chips). Total chips 4,000 for $180. 30 minute levels. Blinds start at 25-50 and increase fairly slow. The 8pm tourney has been attracting 70+ players regularly. Noon has less players, 30-40.

The stakes are a bit lower than you specified, but I had a BLAST at Ceasars noon tourney (they actually have one that's a bit higher stakes at 7pm, too).

Levels are 40min. long, starting at 25/50 blinds. $80 gets you 1,500 chips, but there is a single $50 rebuy that gets you 3,000 chips. I don't even consider is a rebuy, since most just take it on the first hand.

Today was wacky. I arrived at Ceasars to do their tourney about 11:50 and the line stretched down the counter, kinda did a half-loop, and then stretched down the corridor and out the door. Never seen a line like that at Caesars. Floor person was counting people in line (over 60) and making noises like they might not all get in. So I scurried out and ran over to Wynn, arriving about 12:10. And the line stretched from the window to the front podium. Wynn ended up with 128 players and started about 12:15 with a half-dozen or so folks still working through the line (the tourney ticket computer was down so they were doing it all by hand--very slowly doing it all by hand).

Best theory is this was all the WSOP $1000 NL bustouts looking for something to play. Lots of people did admit they had played in yesterday's WSOP event. And lemme tell ya, playing with WSOP $1000 bustouts makes for a tourney filled with some amazing donkeys. Never seen such a soft Wynn tournament. I can only imagine what yesterday's WSOP event was like.
