Another Workout Post: How Do I Find a Personal Trainer?

Im inspired by all the weightloss and workout posts on here lately, and I want to hire a personal trainer. I have a home gym, and ideally I would want the trainer to come to my house to work with me there. Is this feasible? If so, how do I find a reputable, knowledgable trainer? Thanks.

I think you are better off joining a gym and hiring there. Otherwise check with your community college that offers the personal trainer curriculum.

This is the worst idea ever. The personal trainers at almost all gyms suck, but especially the chain gyms. They take some quickie course to get certified. Almost inevitably they're gym rats who read Muscle & Fitness that have no idea what they're doing but think it would be cool to get paid to hang out in the gym all day.

I avoided answering this question the first time I read it because I don't have a good answer except to ask around. But using the gym's trainers is exactly the wrong answer.

Agree with Gunny,

I work at Bally's and we have about 10 personal trainers on staff maybe a 12. Only 2 of them were actually certified before they came here. One kid came in with no experience training what so ever, and they hired him on the spot and gave him two clients his first day.

Not worth the $75/hr charge at all.
