Should you EVER fold a flush when....

when:
- The board isnt paired
- Board only has 3 of same suit.

When i hear of people folding flushes in these situation i am amazed as i could never do it. Getting beat by higher flush sucks but very rarely happens right? i also hardly ever fold flush on a paired board. is this right way of thinking?

TNUC,

Yes, there are times when you should.

Are they rare? Yeah, probably.

You'll find you get better responses when you post hands or ask about more specific scenarios. This one is akin to folding a flopped set or KK preflop. There are times when it's right.

I think flush over flush is more often than set over set.. I don't think it's correct to just say "well, if his is higher I'm losing my stack here".

Personally I try to avoid this situation because it's often so marginal. Sometimes its unavoidable though, eg big blinds with 56s. With a read, It's ok but I think it's a tricky situation (correct me if Im wrong but I think this is often a way ahead way behind situation, and when you play low suits it's often in situations with multiway pots, eg. from in the big blind, so pot control becomes tricky)

If the answer to a post's question is, "it depends," then that thread gets locked.
