Taking 2,000 mg Vitamin C to reduce allergies?

Has anyone tried this?
Or had luck with any other unique allergy treatments?

also, as I type this I'm wondering if Health could be it's own forum?

also i doubt vitamins will affect your allergy situation at all. aren't allergies caused by histamines?

I've known a lot of people that have followed the same trajectory. They had suffered as preteens or teens. The problems abated as young adults. They resurfaced later. The only upshot is that when the problems reappeared that over the counter drugs eased the problem. Vitamin C as panacea is so 80s (and disputed then). It's spring. You're screwed. Suck it up.

I haven't heard of this to prevent the symptoms of allergies. What specific allergies are you targeting anyway? I did read something on bodybuilding.com to the effect of taking in something like 10000mg to avoid getting a cold/recovering from a cold. Taking 2000 seems like regular supplementation and am not sure it would have the same effect. I can't find a link to the article now but i'm sure it was based on a research study.

With that said, who the hell would supplement with that much Vitamin C. And I believe there are some serious health drawbacks with taking that much versus the benefits of fighting a lousy cold.

I have an inner ear problem that gets worse when I have excess sinus drainage.

I discovered the cure to allergies- move to the desert. When spring comes each year, I actually forget that I even have allergies.

just dont move to phoenix, its actually worse for many peoples allergies. The ironic thing is, back in the 50s most everyone who moved out here, moved here to help their allergies.

I grew up on the East Coast and had no allergies as a kid. After 4 more allergy-free years in L.A., I am back on the East coast and now have terrible allergies. What is the deal with that.
