Need OOTs help, interview tomorrow morning

My wife has an interview tomorrow, and she/we need help with the most important/burning question that will inevitably be asked:

So why are you out interviewing for a similar position to what you currently have now?

Background

- Wife is admissions director for a Nursing Home. Crazy business
- Her administrator is crazy. This is answer to the question if she was to be honest. This administrator basically withheld a four figure bonus from her in 2005, even though she did a great job in hitting budgeted census numbers all year long
- The administrator told her that the 2006 budgeted census was to have 145 beds occupied at all times. Wife is currently averaging 143 occupancy rate. So she thinks she is slightly under budget and she's killing herself trying to make the numbers
- Wife found out from corporate that the 2006 budget is actually 140, so she is exceeding budget!

How can you work for someone that is going to lie to you about your performance goals and when you actually hit them, won't tell you and will keep bonus dollars that could have been allocated to you, to herself?

So when asked why she is out interviewing for another Director of Admissions position that pays the same salary-wise, what is the politically correct way of dancing towards a good answer?

Thanks for any input into similar situations you may have had in the past.

I don't really see a question in this post. What she plans to say sounds like a pretty damn good answer.

The question was "Why are you out interviewing for basically the same position that you have now, which pays pretty much the same?"

Are you advocating telling the truth? I think the truth could possibly be softened a little bit but there is a fine line here. Keep in mind that one should not burn one's bridge whenever possible. Her administrator is very well known in the area.

I'm looking for ways to help her get across why she is looking elsewhere without making her seem like a complainer or a narc.

Thx.

if the new job is closer to home, that could be the reason - commuting distance.

Plus, she's "done her research and heard and advanced/wonderful/etc. this place is."
