Hero is in CO and seems to have the image of a rock, through having been cold carded a lot.

Button is a tricky LAG, who likes to make lots of fancy bluffs and plays.

BB is a fish.

1 fold, Hero raises, button calls, SB folds, BB calls.

Flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players, 7 sb)
BB checks, Hero bets, button raises, BB folds, Hero calls.

Turn: A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players, 5.5 bb)
Hero bets, button raises, Hero calls.

River: T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players, 9.5 bb)
Hero checks, button bets, Hero calls.

Given the conditions you describe, I don't really like the preflop raise. It's not terrible, but I'd wait for a better spot, esp. if they're calling you.

I'm really, really anxious to hear your reasoning for calling the flop c/r, and then calling the turn raise, so that I can laugh hard. And then tear you a new one.

I must say that I am surprised that no one (apart from Mr. Wookie) has shown much interest in this hand.

So I have decided to bump it.

I will explain the reasoning for the play of the hand after there have been some posts.

I'm interested to know what you were smoking when you bet the turn. No LAG I know is folding.

I didnt play this hand. I saw it posted in the high stakes section of the forum, and thought that it would be interesting to show the hand here to see what people thought of it.

Apparently this hand was played live at a place called the Borgata in Atlantic City and the stakes were $80/$160 !

The hero's reasoning for the play of his hands was along the following lines:

Preflop raise was an attempt to steal the blinds.

He made a continuation bet on the flop and decided to call his opponent's raise to see if he improved on the turn.

On the turn, hero picked up a gut-shot draw and so decided to try a semi-bluff with a donk bet. He then considered that he was getting sufficient odds (8.5:1) to call his opponent's raise. He felt that he could make up another 2 bets if he made his hand on the river.

Hero then check called the river, when he made a pair, incase his opponent was bluffing with air.

If I had played this hand, I think that I would have folded preflop.

And if someone had posted this hand here, I might have suggested that they buy themselves a copy of SSHE.

Thats because the play of this hand looked terrible to me ! [img]/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img]

I obviously have a lot to learn about how to play at high stakes ! LOL [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

I've seen discussions of high stakes tables before where poster have contended that high stakes players can look bad to micro and low stake players because they are playing on "such a high level" that we don't understand there plays. I always thought that argument was pretty thin...
