Foxwoods 1/2 NL game
 

I used to be a regular in the Foxwoods 1/2 NL game until about two years ago. I decided to make a career change that sent me to the west coast. Now I'm back, and I've just learned the max buy in has tripled in that game since the last time I played. I was wondering if anyone here has played both the old and the new structure regularly (3+ days per week) and would be willing to discuss how this game has changed (if at all). I don't think I quite have the bankroll to start playing this new structure full time again, but I'm working on it, and I want to have a general idea of what I'm getting in to! Also, how different is the 1/2 and the 2/5 game? What size bankroll do some of you regulars have for these games (if you don't mind me asking)? In general, are these high variance games? Is 5K reasonable for the 1/2?

1/2 is sick soft at Foxwoods. 5k bankroll is plenty for sure. I can't comment on the old structure but the games lately have been amazing.

it plays just as poorly as it used to. i have played various games there for the past 10 years. the 1/2 is super soft but now it just plays deeper. i have not messed with the 2/5 there in about a year since the 1/2 is now 300. 5k is perfect amount to be rolled to deal with the variance. this in my experience since it has become the 300 max, is my favorite B&M game. even more than vegas games. thats saying alot.

Lol at the 5k is reasonable answers. What are you trying to accomplish playing 1/2? Is entertainment you main goal, is trying to eak out a living the main goal, is blowing off some steam the goal, ect...?

If you're trying to make a living at it, 20-30 buy ins is safe (max buy ins). If you're going just to play and have a good time, then a "bankroll" really isn't needed, just take what you're comfortable with.

The varianceis fairly high at the 1-2 game due mainly to the loose play. A comfortable playing bankroll would be around 5k, but if you're o.k. taking a shot with 2 or 3 buy ins, by all means do so. 1-2 usually plays loose with 3-5 calling a 15-20 preflop raise. 2-5 usually plays tighter. Hardly ever bluff at 1-2, you'll get called. You can often value bet thin with top pair, middling kicker. Its amazing sometimes what you'll be called with. At 2-5 you can start to semi bluff and bluff more.

I'm planning on getting back to playing for a living. I was able to do this for a couple years in the old 1/2 game with a $2,500 bankroll. I'm just wondering how much I need to adjust the numbers for this new game. I might take a shot with $2,500 and see what happens. It doesn't sound like things have changed too too much, but I'm not quiting my day job yet!
