overhyped for game vs raw noobs

NL holdem tournament format against 8 raw noobs tonite!!!!

My brother has kindley over-hyped me to death

i`m a break even player but he`s talked me up to be some kind of Jason Strassa or something & these guys are expecting a show.

I`ve played with raw noobs before and found it hard going.

from what i can gather this is going be a pretty short stacked set-up and it sounds like some of these guys get bored early.

Personally id rather stay in and play the 10/180s but i cant get out of it.

how should i be approaching this donkfestcarnagement?

many thanks.

yeah, sorry and all that... dont wanna rush anybody but it starts at 9pm GMT
forget it, ijust found a similar post. appologies

ummm i recently had this happen to me against pretty good players, i told them it was false, went on to run them all over and win and got invited back for next week. Just play your game, trying to impress people will leave u out of tournies.

All about the structure... with a short-stacked flop-fest, you might as well just be playing with dice.

You know as well as anybody that skill comes out in the long run. After the first check-raise the ooohs and aaahs will be over with and the only thing different about your game will be the fact that you actually fold pre-flop. Still no better than a 1/4 shot to win the thing, because you know you're going to have to win at least two or three coinflips once the blinds get up high enough.

Once you get beat (legitimetly or not) once or twice there'll be those that say or think to themselves "he's not that good" and will challenge you with lesser hands. Play yourself down and play your game. Tight at first, get a feel, then ship it.

trash talking wierdo - ruling?

evreything passed off quietly. The noobs played it weak/passive.

However:

One guy there plays $5 games on paradise and had a pretty interesting line in trash talk i wasn`t so sure about:

2 limpers, villian raises 3x on the button, SB folds
Now whilst BB contemplates his move with two limpers to act behind him villians giving it: "if you call i`m going all in"
Seems a load of crap to me but it was intimidating the noobs
But since he accepted his verbal allin was binding i guess thats fine - just wierd.

This BS i`m less sure about.

Villian took to announcing his hand just before the flop was dealt although it transpired he had something other than the hand he`d originally claimed.

Is there a ruling on this kind of nonsense or is it just unethical?

On a more upbeat note,
One of the other forums had a thread about the future of online poker, it was filled with doom and gloom posts.

All of the noobs, despite going out early in each game, where very keen to know which books they should read and which sites to play on. How to put money on a site and how to cash out thier winnings (snigger).

I pointed the kid who showed some potential in this direction, the rest i sent to pocket 5s.

The poker boom shows no sign of slowing round here.
