OOT: Pick my groceries.

When I go grocery shopping I tend to get more or less the same things over and over again. However, I like to try new things, but doing so without any guidance can lead to a lot of wasted food/money/storage space.

So I come to you OOT, specifically the food connoisseurs, to pick out my groceries for this week. Please be as specific as possible.

I like to cook, and my roommate is a health-nut. It's rubbed off on me a little, so I try to eat pretty healthy. However, I am by no means against a delicious unhealthy snack or two.

We will be going to a big chain grocery store. I don't really care about price.

When I'm at the checkout counter and I hear the beep, I'll make sure to think of the fun I could have on Supermarket Sweep!

apple chicken sausage; surprisingly low in cholesterol

frozen margarita style pizza; add to it fresh toppings - very unhealthy

ribeye steak cooked in Hawaiian style dish

fish burgers, can buy frozen patty

brocolli + chicken + mazarella + macaroni that has big texture to it = good dish

raw fish + regular rice + seaweed = make quasi sushi

Scallions. They go great in a huge variety of dishes and are very quick and easy to prepare.

The same goes for mushrooms, although they're much more common. You can get a pack of presliced button mushrooms for about $1. They go great with tons of different things because they're flavor sponges. I really wish I could get good tofu here in Nashville for the same reason: it soaks up flavor and you can dictate your texture.

So if I was to combine my suggestions, I'd go with a caesar salad with mushrooms sauteed with scallions in garlic-infused olive oil and extra-firm tofu. If soy isn't your bag, skip the tofu for the more standard croutons.

Get beer. Microbrews preferred. Also, get some mixed greens...and some bleu cheese vinaigrette.

Tabouli. Yum. I could really go for some right now.

Turkey breast chops (like pork chops but really good) w/ some cream of celery soup and stuffing on top.

Some really good hot chocolate or tea.

These are things I want very badly right now. So that is why I am suggesting them.
