Big blind special, ugly turn card in large pot

15/30 hollywood park

First round so reads are tentative

EP no idea
MP is old aggressive thinking player. Dunno his ranges at all though
CO is a dealer player who bought in short, plays decently, but can't really read hands and is playing above his comfort zone
SB has a fair amount of chips. I think he is new to poker, and that his mom gave him some money to play and he is running good (I know this because I was sitting in a smaller game, and a lady talked about having her son in the 15/30)

Everyone limps. I check AJo in the BB.
Flop AJQ with a flush draw
I lead . ep folds . MP Raises . I'm putting MP on an isolation raise. co calls 2 . I am putting him on either an ace or a pair+straight draw, and probably the latter. sb calls 2 I take it up to the 3rd floor, because I decide that MP is probably unhappy with the way the hand is going, and I won't be able to CR the field on the turn. MP folds, Co calls . sb calls .

Turn AJQ(K) offsuit
sb checks . I decide that I don't wanna put any more than 1 bet in UI and I check hoping either my hand is good or that I catch a FH or a ten for a 3 way chop.
CO checks
River AJQK(5) no flush
sb bets. I call because the pot is big, and MAYBE he missed his flush or he may be leading a weaker 2 pair he thinks is good, and because I am pretty damn sure I have CO beaten so I don't fear an overcall.

I can't see any other way to play it. I think trying to c/r the turn is probably always a mistake with this board because it'll get checked through too often or a scare card will shut everyone down (especially so with your read).

Which 15/30 game was it? I sat briefly at both before moving to the 25/50.

by the time I sat, there was only one game going. It was next to the rail. You weren't seat 9 at the 25, were you?

edit: any thoughts on this hand?

I just call the raise back to me on the flop.

The hand looks fine. I suppose the main question is how often you can get in a c/r on the turn if you just call the flop. I don't count on most opponents in those games to take aggressive action pretty much ever, especially not on scary boards. So go ahead and collect your value on the flop.

Also, if max protection is the concern, three-betting does cause people to fold (correctly and incorrectly) a fair amount of the time. You are oop and want to thin the field, so you can make the correct decisions against opponents when you are unsure where you are on turn/river.

Also, with the likelihood of gutshots or flushes completing on the turn, defining your hand more now is to your advantage when you safely fold the river UI.

Also, whats your plan if the flush card hits turn, river etc?

That was me. Good guess.

not really a guess. I'm basically an expert at spotting 2p2ers. If I were in X-Men that would be my superpower. lulz

I guess no one feels like discussing turn at all, because it's super standard or something?

Another question: is anyone betting the river if SB checks?
