correct number for each denom

im putting together a custom set for .25/.5 nl he for 6-9 people. its going to be 500 chips. what is a good break down for the chips. the game plays with sometimes double adn triple stradles and almost everyone buy ins for 200BB

im going to have .25, 1, 5, 10, and 25 chips.

i was thinking of doing

130 x .25
250 x 1
75 x 5
30x 10
15 x 25

what do you guys think?

I find a rack of .25 works well for one table. Or if you don't mind a few extra chips, a stack each.

You really want three primary denominations in play. For you, that's quarters, dollars, and fives. NO TENS. Chips should be at least 4x the next lower denomination. I'm a fan of $20 chips, tho' I know I'm in the minority (I like to use chips that correspond to real printed/minted currency).

Your numbers are generally good, though. Since I use racks, I like nice even stacks of 20. For a one-table game, I'd do this:

140 x .25
260 x 1
80 x 5
20 x 25

That's only a little over a grand on the table, though.

if i make the 20 a 25 chip that adds some value and i dont care about even 20 racks. maybe replace some ones with 5s?

Get rid of the 10's, I agree. You probably want a whole lot of $1 chips and you'll find you don't use so many .25 chips after the blinds are posted. I'd go with something like:

100 x .25
250 x 1
100 x 5
50 x 25

Re: correct number for each denom

200BB = $100

Buyin per person:

12 x .25
16 x 1
6 x 5
2 x 25

For 10 persons that's:

120 x .25
160 x 1
60 x 5
20 x 25

So a set could look like this:

150 x .25
200 x 1
100 x 5
50 x 25
