WPT revises final table structures

Heres the info:

Again, I want to express my appreciation and gratitude for all of the constructive input we have received from players and casino partners alike. We continue to work to make the player experience at WPT events unmatched in the industry.

I am writing to share our progress as we explore various tournament structures to determine the optimal formula. As most of you know, rather than implementing the standard WPT final table structure at the Bellagio Cup III in July, we let the tournament structure play out to address some of the feedback we've received. That experience has led us to try the same structure again (both preliminary days and final table) at the upcoming Legends of Poker Tournament August 25th – 30th at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles and the Gulf Coast Poker Championship at the Beau Rivage September 6th – 9th in Biloxi Mississippi.

Acting on another suggestion, we plan to use a new final table structure with longer levels at the Borgata Poker Open September 16th -20th in Atlantic City. We look forward to input from players and tournament staff alike regarding how these changes affect the experience.

This fall offers many new opportunities for players to compete for a WPT title. Season VI features the most diverse schedule in WPT history. I strongly suggest you check out our new tour stops at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi, Club Med/Players Club in the Turks & Caicos, and Casino Barcelona/Casino Peralada in Barcelona, Spain. You can access the full Season VI tournament schedule and more information at http://www.worldpokertour.com/tourna...&type=wpt.

I will be at the Bicycle Casino deli on August 27th from 2-4 p.m. if anyone would like to talk to me directly.

Hope to see you there.

Regards,

Steve

Good to see progress, but BAD NEWS. Cardplayer has signed for exclusive rights to WPT event coverage.

Watching people play Heads-up for 6 figures of prize pool between first and second with only one bet behind after a pre-flop raise got old fast.

Players and casino partners told them the fast structure sucked and made boring TV.

CardPlayer coverage has been okay for recent tournaments.

That solves the fast structure. But will there be more viewers? Prolly not.
There needs to be more 'name' players making the final table. Does this not increase the viewership?
The skewed payoff structure forces players to take early
risk to try for the win. If there were a big money gap between 6th and 7th place, the name players would play
to make the TV final table. Not finish 7th thru 12th
so often.

Re: WPT revises final table structures

I cannot find the structures. Are they posted? Sturctures for the events should be published when the schedule is decided. This will give the players the information they need to determine if they will attend. I called the Bicycle the other day to ask about structures and the person in the poker room (not the tournament director) said he didn't have them. I would not even consider playing in a cardroom that couldn't provide structures for upcoming events. This is widespread but some places do it right. An example is the Borgata in Atlantic City which is my favorite place to play. They always provide full structure information when they advertise an event and all this information is available on the internet so players don't have to make repeated phone calls to the card room trying to locate the tournament director.

Any cardroom that purchases a advertisement in a poker magazine advertising upcoming events should also inform players where they can find structure information on the internet.

I only have limited experience with these tournaments but it appears to me that places which offer good value for money such as the Borgaata make all information available but ones which offer poor value for money try not to release this information.

They still mess up hands all the time. Now I guess I won't really know because I won't have the several other outlets to see the correct information.
