Cashing Large Tourney Prizes?

Has anyone had any experience cashing out big tourney payoffs (20k-75k)?
Isn't there a 5k check limit at PS and FT?
I'm just wondering how players get their money when they score in Pokerstars Million or Full Tilt 350/750k events.

Usually they just leave it in, move up to 200/400, and donk it all away in a few weeks.
