5k event i play it like a cash game

A lot of people I've talked to out here have had differing opinions:

Blinds are 50/100. I've got like 17k and cover the opponent in question (10k in chips), who is wearing an FTP hat and sunglasses and is in his mid thirties. Could be some donkey, could be an FTP pro, who knows. I've JUST sat down, posted the BB, and now this hand comes up next.

UTG+2, opponent in question, limps, all fold, I complete SB with AQo. BB checks.

Flop: AAKr. I bet 1k into 300, he tanks and calls.

Turn: 3 I bet 4k into 2k, he thinks for a bit and calls.

River: 9 I stick him in for the rest (he had 10k to start)

Looks like the overbetting worked. I think you have the best hand. But can you explain your reasoning for the overbets?

-I can see him make a hero call w/ a K on this flop hoping u'd shut down. You're bet looks too suspicious.
-The over call on the turn tells me he has a worst Ace 99% of the time...maybe aj, at ??
-The only hands that beat us her is AK,KK, doesnt' really make too much sense the way he played it. But if he turns over either hands than nh, you'd probably stack any way the hand plays out.

I think I like it. I usually raise preflop, though.

I don't mind the complete pf, you're out of position and have no reads on the table yet. I like your overbets, however a lot of bad live players will limp AA, KK, and AK and will play it exactly this way. the good news is that a bad live player might also be calling you down with Q-high or an underpair thinking you're bluffing. I'd say most of the time your opponent has AJ/AT/KQ/KJ/KT though and doesn't want to raise you.

I raise pf, but since you didn't, it makes your hand less believable. Since this is the first hand you've played he may think you're a total maniac. I think your hand is strong enough to warrant overbetting the pot (you will get paid off by worse hands) but your hand isn't too big (risking having your monster go unpaid). If you check you may get one bluff from him but that's probably it. I like it.

sick line. i like it although i don't think I would have come up with it myself.

is this really how you play it in a cash game?

i'm laughing so hard reading this, becuase everyone is going to read it and go "lol when i play cash i have to bet twice the pot"

i realyl like this line, in some form, but mine would probably go like pot pot slightly over pot, or slightly over pot pot pot, or something like that, to where i would get half his stack, not all of it

as played, i think he's got AJ-A2 everytime, but i have no idea if the three or the 9 boated him, or if he'll call with AT

agree 100% with AE. By river has an ace, so lets hope he calls with AT AJ.

I would almost never do this. But I think its probably a good line. From the description of villain he seems like the type who would make a hero call so I think its fine.
