I just had one: take this cup of freshly brewed coffee and throw it all over someone.

The person in question is nice and I actually like them...but, wouldn't it be interesting, you know, what IF....

Someone mentioned something like this in an unrelated thread once...I think it was along the lines of "ok so i was driving and thought 'wonder what it'd be like if i just cranked hard on the wheel right now and flew off the road!'.

Does this happen to anyone else? Does it sound nuts? I think there's something about the fact that there's no way in hell I'd do X that somehow puts X in my mind.

Something must be in my coffee...but I've typed this out, so lets hear it!

Extremely common. From some books I've read some pyschologists chalk it up to our brains testing our rationality.

To elaborate on my own weird urges:

-I've wanted to jump through plate glass windows
-Jump off the 2nd level at the local shopping mall
-Open the emergency door on an airplane

Whenever I stand in line at a bank, I have some urge to hand the teller a robbery demand note. I've also had the one about driving off the road, intentionally crashing into someone, jumping off a building....all sorts of weird stuff. I am going to jury orientation today...hope I don't get crazy in there.

Yeah this happens to me a lot. I go through phases where I just have these weird impulses to self-destruct. Like I'm on a subway platform and get the urge to dive in front of a train. Or like in "Requiem For a Dream," walk up behind a cop and grab the gun out of his holster. Good to know it's normal... or is it?

Sometimes I wake up in the morning and the first thing I think of before anything else is, "chipotle right now would be excellent"

I'll debate blowing through a blind stop sign at, say, 80mph, from time to time.
