wouldn't a bet to 350-400 do the same thing? It would be very ballsy for villain to miniraise bluff the river

Re: One more bluff

I like this bluff a lot. His range includes a lot of sets that may have slowed down on that turn. And how could he not be betting QQ or AQ on that turn? I really doubt villian ever calls for a chop and there is a possibility that even a Queen could fold because the flush hit.

I think in this case the allin puts a lot more pressue and looks more like the flush.

Didn't see the 3rd club hit the first time I read HH. Now I like a push better since it looks like a flush and may get a Q to fold

TheWorstPlayer 07-17-2007 05:49 PM

Re: One more bluff

doubt a Q ever folds, fwiw. also doubt he ever has a Q. i think the clubs just gives him another reason to fold when he's playing the board. which of course he didn't do.

flop? ?

Re: One more bluff

Yes. He doesn't have clubs very often and I look like I might. All I know about his hand is that he bet it when checked to by the preflop raiser. That's a very wide range. He, however, knows that I check/called the flop as the preflop raiser. That often limits my range to one pair hands and draws.

Re: One more bluff

why do you guys like it? is dov really supposed to show up with a flush here? villain may be a nit and can "only" call with a flush, and in that case, it probably works enough for this "bluff" to work enough, but when TWP c/c the flop and doesnt lead the turn it's pretty hard for him to have either a Q or a flush.

then again, villain also probably doesnt have either of those hands, so i suppose you're freerolling on the bluff.

hmm, i think you can bet less though, and it would still work - 240 or so.

Re: One more bluff

actually, i didnt realize you had rred preflop TWP. would you really check and call the flop with a flush draw? maybe, but most players would never ever include that in your range.

with that said, he probably rarely has a Q, so it'll work often enough

TheWorstPlayer 07-17-2007 08:06 PM

Re: One more bluff

meh. i bet 240 and he pushes. i'm supposed to fold for 360 more into a 750 pot? and why would i ever bet a flush draw or a Q on the turn?

I think people mis-read the board here 1 in 10 and misclick 1 in 10. So you don't have go too far to get to 1 in 3.

What do you guys do on the flop? Flop seems pretty standard to me. Too much equity to fold, too little equity to bet, c/c to induce bluffs and see a safe turn. I really don't get what you guys don't like about it. What do you do as villain with 22 here if I bet? What do you do if I check? What about AK? What about 99?

Yeah, especially since *most* flush draws are combo draws, on this board.

which makes it MORE likely for me to check/call and check/the turn. With a pair, there's a possibility that I'm good and with the draw, I'm not fearful of free cards. Not to say that most opponents think like this, though...

yeah, you have a real twisted way of how you perceive people to think about the game. basically, if i were you, you should do this:
picture how you would play a hand
then do the exact opposite
that is how your opponents would play it, likely.

TheWorstPlayer 07-17-2007 10:37 PM

Re: One more bluff

i didnt say people would think about it that way. in fact i said they wouldnt. but in fact, I am plenty likely to play a flush draw like this. that was my only point. not saying they would put me on it. my only thinking with the bluff was "he's unlikely to be beating the board, there are two decent possibilities for me to be beating the board, I'm going to push and hope he folds his split."

Very nice and yeah the ace of clubs is semi-important here, I think.
