Re: Casino Royale St. Maarten NLHE?

I stopped in Casino Royale to check out the poker scene one night, probably about 9, there wasn't a cash game going on, but there was a tournament that was going to start.

The resort that we have a timeshare at is literally a block away from the Hollywood Casino. The facilities are nice and the staff is friendly. I played 1-2 NL the whole week there. They also offered some tournaments. The guy who was in charge of the cardroom, as of last Feb, was the dealer coordinator for the 2006 WSOP (supposedly; he'll probably show you his picture in card player the second you sit down). The rake is pretty absurd, I think it's %-based, but capped at like $10 or $15, but I still found the game to be profitable. I would guess it's like a 15 min drive from Casino Royale.

I'm sure there are plenty of other poker options, but it was my first year going to the island and I had no reason to stray from Hollywood. Enjoy.
