Re: wireless routers

I ended up going with the linksys wireless g with speedbooster.

I just ran a test on my connection with the new router and here were the results:

Is this consistent with having 15mbps down and 2 up or am I getting screwed?

Your upload is nice. Your download is very low for 15Mpbs service. I would expect 4-6Mbps downloads. Try during non-peak hours and see what you get. Did you run this test multiple times?

I just got 4563 down and 1657 up on another test, is this where 15mbps should be?

Also, I just got a 3700 down on a different one, and many more that are in the 1000 and 2000 range. I don't have any other applications open that access the internet.

Why is this so? And can anyone link to a page that will help me make sense of these speeds? Thanks.

I have 8000/1000 service. My bandwidth tests are all around 6500/500. It looks like your provider is overextended in your area and can't deliver the speeds you're expecting.
