KeePM - PM archive utility

Mike Haven requested it, I posted an initial version, and there have been some suggestions.

Here is the latest KeePM utility for archiving 2+2 PMs onto your desktop

If you are interested, you can now grab the source code and build it yourself. I make no real claims about the beauty of the code - it is ad hoc software and it looks like it, with procedural code stuffed all into one class, lack of comments, etc.

If you have suggestions or want to contribute, PM me.

In addition, anyone with real graphics skills who wants to develop a better icon is strongly encouraged to do so.

Check it out, let me know what you think, report any bugs.

I do plan to put this in the software forum eventually, but since the idea started here, and the utility is for this forum specifically, I decided to post again here at first.

Thanks, TT. Subtle brag post?

I can't decide if this thing is more useful to Mods with unlimited PM inboxes that have hundreds of PMs that can't be managed, or standard users with a limit of 200 that have to go through and clear out PMs all the time.

Nice!

If it doesn't finish for some reason (like a disconnect with the server around 3AM EDT when 2+2 takes a snooze, or a real error):

1) Please try to get any error message. If you can expand the details and get those, it would be much appreciated

2) Repair. KeePM saves each PM in its own file and then builds an index. If it fails in the middle, it may have written out 1000 files, but not the index. There is a Repair function under the File menu. Put in your username and run Repair, it should build the index for what it did manage to download before failing.

3) Try again. Since the index was built by the Repair, it knows it already has 1000 of the PMs (or however many) and will only attempt to get the remaining ones, making another failure less likely.
