Palms $1,000,000 Freeroll

The Palms will be running a $1,000,000 Freeroll.

In order to qualify you need to play 500 hours between January 1st and May 31st. If there are fewer than 500 qualifiers then people may qualify with less than 500 hours (but will have reduced chip stacks).

I am told that posters with the details will be up at the Palms Poker Room shortly.

I understand that the money for this event is not coming from the jackpot drop.

500 hours in 5 months? Gotta average 100 hours per month? I think they'll be lucky to get 100 qualifiers. Obviously they aren't aiming this at anybody with a job.

250,000 total player hours in five months and the Maloofs are coming up with $1M themselves? Sounds nice but I agree that I don't see them getting anywhere near 500 players to put in that much time. I would be interested to see what the minium requirements are and what the chip hit would be for being less than 100/mo.

It is my understanding that the money is coming from a TV production company who will be filming the tournament (qualifiers will have to sign releases).

As to the number of qualifiers I don't know how many there will be, but I suspect Bav's 100 is well below the number.f 500 people don't qualify the absolute minimum to qualify is 300 hours (I think), but if you put in the 300 hours you are not guaranteed to get in the tourney. The chip reduction for less than 500 hours may not be terribly painful.

When they put out the full details I will post them.

Interesting. I would guess that as news spreads about this around town, many of the local rocks will go there, thus making other rooms more profitable (aside from the obvious Stations loss). Hopefully, this will be the case (not a Palms fan here).

Re: Palms $1,000,000 Freeroll

as someone who put in well over 100 hours this summer at teh palms, I must say that this is definitely doable. The only thing is though the palms room(s) is small.

Anyone know what limits this is. I was playing 2/5 1kmax but if they offer this to 3/6 and 4/8 limit players then it won't be hard to make these hours.

Also, as I post this I'm contemplating driving from LA to LV twice a month just to play and try to qualify for this. 1mil is a lot of cash and I assume there won't be more than 200 people at the absolute MAXIMUM. We're talking about a nice prizepool for a limited nit-filled field.

Limit games are $2-$4, & $4-$8 (though they have been playing this with $1 $2 blinds they say they are going to full blinds). No Limit is primarily $2-$5, but they will spread a $1-$2 or $1-$3 when there is demand.

Think he was asking which limits qualify.

Is there any word on the prize structure of the tournament?
