OT: $20 vs $5 and $10 tables
 

I've played quite a few $5 and $10 tables on Stars and I have basically broke even so far. My strategy is pretty standard for playing STT's, so I think the reason I haven't won more is because of the terrible play at this level. The bad beats by hands that shouldn't be played are constant.

Do you think it's the same at the $20 tables or is the play better suited for my style? Is it worth moving to?

The reason I haven't moved up yet is because of my roll isn't big enough.

beat the 5 and 10 dollar ones for a reasonable profit, then move up whne your bankroll dictates it. if the play is really that bad, then you should be able to convincingly beat them, NOT be break even at them. bad beats are called so because they're few in number; over the long run if you're not winning at the stakes you're playing at then it's safe to assume you're no better than the players you're playing against.

maybe I'm just really unlucky. tried a $20 and had some push with 99 preflop when i had AA. 9 came on the turn.

If you can't beat the lower games you WILL NOT beat the higher games. You don't have nearly a big enough sample size to judge any of this (clearly by your last post) so just play more $5s and post some hands and see where it goes. Worse players means you will make more $$ not less it is incorrect to think otherwise.

That pretty much nails it down. With an extensive track record like that, it is conclusive that you are never going to beat the $20 game.

ya same thing happened the next table though...AA got cracked by a set of nines after the flop. seems like it happens too often

just move up to the stake where someone finally respects your raises, then you will be good

Low stakes STTs are very easy to beat given the bad play. You can literally make money when your opponents make mistakes when your not even in the hand.

Low stakes cash is a little tougher to consistently beat at the lower levels but they are still a goldmine.

My guess is your to tight and get blinded down. sSo when you push AA it will be a correct call by your opponents in certain situations. (You always want them to call you when you have AA anyways) Or, you are too loose and spew chips.

Try to post actual hands so people can try and help you a little better.
