shouldnt a room spreading ONLY shortstack NL be good for the casino?
was reading the florida poker thread as well as the "youre the manager of a poker room" thread and it got me to thinking that shouldnt the rooms be encouraging super short stack buyin NL games and nothing else?
the recreational players will stick around until they are able to get a deep stack, the nits will be pissed off and leave, and the pit junkies can play a super action game that will either result in a fast big win, or break him right away so he can get back to high stakes blackjack something along the lines of only spreading 20BB games, with the smallest stakes being 2/5NL $100 buyin, next 5/10NL $200, 15/25NL $500, and 25/50NL $1k mandatory $5 drop on any hand that sees a flop, no jackpots of any kind i am NOT suggesting that this would be a room that all of us would like to play, but would serve the purpose of "having a poker room" to satisfy tourists that will only stay in a place that spreads poker, and does not draw the pit junkies away from their regular games. |

Hello Hawaiian Gardens

Re: shouldnt a room spreading ONLY shortstack NL be good for the casino?
Hardly Hawaiian gardens. Their 3/5 game has a buy-in of 200 and 5/10 game has a buy-in of 500. Their 10/20 game has 1000 min no max. Not the same thing..

Otherwise potentially interesting thread but I gotta run ~ Rick PS Have time to re-state my opinion that Hawaiian Gardens decision to spread $100 fixed buy NL with $2-$3 blinds (and eventually get about five games going most days) one year or so before the WPT first aired was a milestone. IMO it was as important as hole card camaras and the Chris Moneymaker win to fueling the explosion in no limit poker. |

For a long time Luxor had a 50 min/max buyin at the 1/2 NL tables. Not sure what it is today.

Re: shouldnt a room spreading ONLY shortstack NL be good for the casino?
My local casinos have a max buy-in of $60 for 1/2, then it bumps up to $300 for 1/3. Which is a large difference.
