soon2b[skinny?]\'s Velocity Diet Log

Whats up all, my name is Pat, and I will be doing the Velocity Diet ( http://www.t-nation.com/findArticle....le=05-009-diet ). I am looking to lose some weight fast, and this seems to be the best option. I will tell you guys a little about myself, and then will get into the details of the diet.

I was fairly athletic in high school. I wrestled and swam 2 years each. I joined the Crew(rowing team) and was on that for 3 years. I ended up recieving a few scholorships for Crew, but ended up turning them all down. I have not worked out anywhere near the intensity of any of my high school sports since graduation. My height and weight when I wrestled was 5"9, 150 lbs. During my last 2 years on the crew team I was 5"9.5, 165. I never in my life have really dieted "correctly". When I wrestled, I basically starved myself, and other than that, I normally just pig out, never watching what I eat. I do tend to stay away from fast food and soda-pop though. I took last semester off, and have been playing poker for a living for about a year and a half now. This is the result...

I will be heading to Florida on June 2nd, so hopefully I will look better than I do now by then. I will also be playing Gaelic Futbol this summer, and rowing for Ohio State University starting this fall. My goals for this diet are as follows:

1) Lose 15+ lbs
2) Lose 5% body fat
3) Have a more presentable "beach body" aka be more defined
4) Get down to size 31 waist
5) Stick with this diet no matter how hard it is.

My overall goals are as follows:
1) Get down to ~10-12% bodyfat
2) Increase my vertical for gaelic futbol
3) Become much more solid strength wise(able to take hits and dish them out)
4) Learn to eat healthy, and make a habit of it.
5) Continue to keep exercise a main part of my life.

Here are my current specs:

Height: 5"9.5
Weight: 195 lbs
Bodyfat: 27%
Waist Size: 32-33

Ok, now, The Velocity Diet.

To sum it up briefly, it is a 28 day liquid diet. I am allowed 4 solid meals, one each week consisting of 2 servings of oatmeal and 2 servings of blueberries. I will be in the gym 3 days a week. I will be doing no cardio at all during these 28 days.

Here is what my dieting will consist of(I calculated my caloric intake on the velocity diet website):

Non workout days:

9 scoops Metabolic Drive Low Carb Casein/Whey mix
4 scoops milled flax seeds
^^^ Divided into 4-5 servings

21 salmon oil capsules

3 Zinc Magnesium Aspirates (before bed)

2 One a Day Weight Smart Advanced multivitamins (morning and late afternoon)

4 Hot-Rox Extreme (2 pills, twice a day)

1470 calories

Workout Days

9 scoops Metabolic Drive Low Carb Casein/Whey mix
4 scoops milled flax seeds
^^^ Divided into 4-5 servings

1 serving of surge (half during workout, half after workout)

3 Zinc Magnesium Aspirates (before bed)

2 One a Day Weight Smart Advanced multivitamins (morning and late afternoon)

4 Hot-Rox Extreme (2 pills, twice a day)

1600 calories

One time a week(at the end of the week) I will be able to eat 2 servings of oatmeal and blueberries. I will be drinking natural green tea, and hydrating myself with lots of water. No other drinks.

Thats just above and just below where I want to be at.

I will be using gold standard whey protein mix for a few days until I recieve the Metabolic drive and Surge in the mail. It will still keep me about where I want to be calorie wise.

Here is the workout I will be doing:

Day A

Pull Up/Lat Pull 10x3

Bench Press 10x3

Squat 8x3

Hamstring Curl 6x3

Standing Calf Raise 8x2

Barbell/Dumbell Curls 8x2

Overhead Tricep Extensions 8x2

Abs until failure (not same one last workout)

Day B

Deadlift 10x3

Rack Pull 5x3

Flyes 8x3

Overhead Press 10x3 (from Clean)

Standing Calf Raise 8x2

Barbell/Dumbell Curls 8x2

Military Dumbell Press 8x2

Abs until failure (not same one last workout)

Day C
Dips 10x3

Rows 10x3

Lat Raises 8x3

Lunges 8x3

Standing Calf Raise 8x2

Barbell/Dumbell Curls 8x2

Military Barbell Press 8x2

Abs until failure (not same one last workout)

As you can see from the pictures, I am pretty chubby. I dont have much definition(although if I sucked it in I might have had some lol). [censored], even my biceps dont have much definition and they are fairly large, just covered in fat. I am really hoping for some drastic changes by the end of this.

I will be starting today, May 1st and continuing through May 28th. I will try to update every day, and post pics in 2 weeks, and then at the end of the diet.

Thanks

p.s. special thanks to those who have helped me get this all figured out, especially thirddan and thremp.

i still think you should increase the cals, at least by 1 more scoop/day...good luck...

it was also important to start planning for your transition back to solids about a week or so befor eyou are done, that way you can make a proper plan for adding in solids...you can't do it all at once, doing it over 1-2 weeks, adding in one meal at a time and slowly increasing the cals...

That looks terribly unhealthy for me. I think you're going to get some pretty sick headaches and overall feeling like crap from eating so little.

I really don't know much about this stuff, but just start actually working out and eating healthy and the weight should fly off anyways, you're like 35-50 lbs overweight.

I am sure I will be looking forward to figuring out the transition back to solids. I may add one extra scoop on workout days as I am ~100 calories under where I can be.

For those that think this is unhealthy...I dont believe I am malnutritioning myself in anyway, other than cutting down on calories.

another note:

I wont be doing these exercises till fail(thanks to thremp, otherwise I would be, lol). I am going to be doing these weights at about 50-60% of my 1RM(I currently only know my bench, and military press 1RM so far, I will figure the rest out as I go, and keep you updated.)
