Comm 40: FPS?

This one was from earlier in the session that I already posted about. Random guy raises in EP, several people cold-call including the button. Button is a young light-skinned Middle Eastern dude who is there all the time and usually plays the 60 (I think). He's up at least two racks and has shown down winners each time with good starting hands; seems like a good TAG. I get red KK in the SB and 3-ball it, all call.

Flop: 972 one heart

I bet, PFR calls, bad player calls in MP, others fold, button raises, I quickly call, PFR folds, bad player calls.

Turn: 4h

I check, bad player checks, button bets. Bad player looks uninterested. I call. Bad player folds. Button says "You looking for the Ace?"

River: Ah

I check, button says "there's your Ace, but I bet anyway."

Interested in thoughts on all streets and what we think Button has.

Is the flop rainbow?
Did the bad player fold the turn?

3-bet the flop.
Villain has a set/97s/A9s.
Fold the river.

If villain bluffed you with something crazy like JTs, it tells you why you should 3-bet the flop.

From his table talk I think he's much more likely to have 97s than a set. Sounds like he is trying to figure out if you have an overpair or not (because he could lose), a guy with a set isn't too concerned about the board pairing, he just wants to figure out how to get paid the most. So I would be inclined to bet if the 2 or 4 paired on the end (or CR) and check/fold the ace given what he said.

When you didn't 3-bet the flop I thought it was because you were gonna checkraise the turn. But then you didn't do that either

My thoughts exactly.

As played, you've underrepresented your hand so much that I think I'd have to look up button.

I would three-bet this flop all day, every day. I'm curious why you didn't. The button might play 10's or JJ like this and I'd like to attempt to clear out those in the middle by reraising. The pot is already quite large - no need to get fancy.

I actually thought the turn c/r (that didn't actually happen) was a great plan. The pot is big; charge the maximum to all the one-pair hands that have the odds to draw against you for one bet on the turn.

imo not 3betting that flop really blows.

I don't even like that line of thinking. With 4 players in there's too much of a chance that he's going to check it if an unpleasant card comes on the turn. Just 3-bet the flop and take it from there.

This is a good board to do that on. 86 and T8 can be somewhat discounted from villain's range. JT worries me a bit, but not everyone will free card raise a gutshot, even *WITH* overcards.

ok wait, nvm. I talked myself out of it. It's too likely the turn is gonna get checked through to not 3 bet this flop. If the pot is ginormous, then it's worth the risk of a turn check through to go for a turn CR imo.

In conclusion:
3 bet flop
