Anyone catch Friday Night Lights?

I watched the premiere episode and I'm willing to watch at least a couple more. It seemed decent. As unrealistic as it may be, that side of high school football interests me (mostly from the coach's view). I'm definitely VERY tempted to read the book now...I bet it is a really good book if the reverse judgment works (the tv show is decent, book is probably better therefore...)

Anyone have any input here?

I have not. Is the movie based off the book too? If so, they went book->movie->tv show? Wild.

I have it on my netflix queue and it is coming within a week probably....

The TV show seems to be loosely based on the book. The town, character names and their relationships to each other are changed.

There was an article that raved about the pilot in the NY Times. I may have to check out the first episode to see whether it actually is any good.

The pilot was awful. I hope you like shaky cameras and predictable story lines. There are 2 pretty hot chics but that was the only thing remotely good about the show.

I have not seen the TV show, but the book is one of my favorites; of course, I grew up in West Texas, so I might be biased. Also, I thought the movie was gawd-awful, mostly because it seemed like the filmmakers had only read the dust jacket to the book, and not the actual book itself. Anyway, I can't tell you anything about the TV show, but I strongly recommend you read the book.
