JJ, low board, facing reraise on the flop
 

Okay, I somehow dont have the full hand anymore.

It was like this:

blinds: .25/.50

I have about 150. Villian about 55.

I have JJ in the sb, raise to 2.50, he calls form the bb.

Flop: 983, rainbow.

I bet 5 into a pot of 6, he reraises to 15. I push all in. He calls.

Is this play ok?

Reads are, he's solid but lost an all in push preflop with AK against JJ earlier.

If you really think he's raising with a str8 draw or one pair and you want to continue with the hand, push is OK. I'm somewhat skeptical though that your hand is good more than not. It's a feel thing at the table.

Was it folded around to you in the blinds pre-flop?
Maybe he felt that you were just trying to steal so just smooth called with a nice hand (big pair- most likely or AK AQ AJ maybe even A9suited).
He maybe felt your big bet on the flop was trying to push him off it. He re-raised to do the same to you. But obv with a big hand you werent guna fold. I believe he called as he didnt think you had it.

Would be interested to hear what he had??

He flopped a set of 99.

I am just curious of how to fold to sets. It's hard to spot them.

yea verisimilitude...I think I've lost more money over valuing overpairs than just about any other hand. One thing that I always tell myself is: "Don't be the dummy who stacks off with one pair..." Having said that, I only wish someone would push everytime I flopped a set. [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

I'm just getting started using pokerstove, but I plugged in what I think are the most likely range of hands here. Looks like I forgot maybe OJ...If I am forgetting any, someone please correct me. Looks like you're flipping here. Not sure if it's worth it. Unless you want to gamb00l--which, I admit, I will sometimes (hence the first sentence...)

Your PSB got you some information. He is telling you he can beat top pair with his raise. If you really want to play this spot, then call the flop and re-eval the turn(bit weak if you ask me)

Otherwise folding is good.

And i think your footnote that he pushed with AK preflop is a little dangerous to think about in this situation. That was a preflop play, and we are trying to figure out a play AFTER the flop. Be careful comparing calling/bluffing tendencies preflop/flop. Peoples' behavior changes a lot after the flop.
