$400nl: blind battle 500+ bb deep with JJ

villain is not too aggressive for the most part. he doesn't get involved with a lot of the 3 and 4 betting pf. this is first "blind battle" i think we have had though.

Seat 1: Rodea84 ($392)
Seat 2: AGame18 ($392)
Seat 3: SpaceyFCB ($2,185.70)
Seat 4: HERO ($2,193.50)
Seat 5: Simon Stu ($626.70)
Seat 6: GrossMann ($766.50)
SpaceyFCB posts the small blind of $2
HERO posts the big blind of $4
The button is in seat #2
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to HERO [Jh Js]
Simon Stu folds
GrossMann folds
Rodea84 folds
AGame18 folds
SpaceyFCB raises to $16
HERO raises to $48
SpaceyFCB raises to $148
HERO calls $100
*** FLOP *** [7h 5d 3s]
SpaceyFCB bets $200
HERO folds

standard?

did u call preflop for set value? if so, fold is fine.

if not, well this is as good as a flop as any for your hand.

I think if u raise, u'r turning u'r hand into a bluff in the respect that no worse hand will call.

I think you guys are WAY too deep for Villain to be screwing around here with a hand that you have beat (and if he was it probably nailed that flop) but if you call the flop he's probably going into call-down mode and you can get to showdown pretty cheaply most of the time... I usually just call flop, check behind any turn and shove any river. It's great fun but I'm not advocating it as a hugely +EV move.

Kirk

PS. to clarify, I do that only given the stack sizes.

well i kinda thought out how much money i was willing to invest total for the hand. like if u call $200, turn is check check and river villain fires $500 i assume ure folding. we'd already invest 200 by calling, so chuck out another 350 or so and if he shoves we've reduced our revrese implied odds to just the 350 we chucked out. im not saying this is the most +EV line, it could arguably be -EV. just something i was thinking about.

If you think always calling in that spot 500BB's deep with QQ-AA is definitely +EV... lol

the fact that they are so deep increasing the chances that he is "just screwing around"

i agree with parlay slow, i think a lot of villains will just call with aa-kk here pf too w/ given history, because it is so "deceptive" and they dont want to end up in a 1000bb pot with just one pair.

i def. call the flop at least.

kirkrr i dont get your line at ALL. after we call there is 700 in the pot, and then you want to shove 2.5x pot on the river after checking the turn? why would u ever play a set like this?
