All-in from the SB...
 

I don't see a rules forum, so here goes: I recently had a hand that went like this -

Blinds are 500/1000.
I am the SB, 500 (this is all i have left, so I'm all-in)
UTG raises to 2000, everyone including the BB folds.
So it's me and the UTG. I wind up winning the hand.

How much do I get?

You would win T1500, this is from your T500 Sb, plus T500 from the BB and T500 from the UTG. The UTG would win the other T500 from the BB plus the balance of his chips.

Until you get comfortable making quick side-pots, a way to approach it is this:

The SB is in for 500, and cannot win more than that from any one player. Therefore, take 500 from each stack and put it into the main pot. This is all the SB can win. Those left in the hand are fighting over the side pot. As the BB folded, what's left of his bet goes to UTG. You and the winner of the side pot (UTG) showdown for the main pot.

Just to put another spin on what the other two posters correctly said think of it this way.

All your chips are in (and everyone has you covered) and you win. If one player called you, you double up. Two players called you, you triple up. In this case, the BB didn't play the hand but he did call your bet before the deal.

So you triple up. You can never get more than that.

I was in a tournament a couple of days ago. I did argue my case that I was to receive t1500. I was "corrected" in saying that I was the SB, and was entitled to only that of the guy who stayed (t1000) total.

I now have some proof in correcting those who "corrected" me!

Ha, good luck with that. They'll be defensive from the start. Approach it delicately.

Once you have their attention, a way to approach it might be:

Pretend there are no blinds. I go all-in for 500. The person next to me calls my 500 and raises another 500. The next person calls the 1000 and re-raises. The first raiser folds. Both players called the original 500.

Talk about an incentive to get heads up with all-in players! You can get a free bonus amount of chips for doing so!

To spin it another way is your eligible to win to an amount equal to your bet from each player who put money in the pot, whether they put it in from a blind position or not.

you put out 500, player A (bb) put out a 1000, UTG put out 2000. You can win 500 from player a and 500 from UTG.

OP- ...and now ask the tourney director if Player C would get ALL of the chips from Player B, because he caused B to fold... leaving a pot of only T1000 (Player A, Player C) for the all-in confrontation.

It's no different preflop with the shorter-than-blinds stack.

If that doesn't work, DEFINATELY a kick in the nuts for the tourney director.


Now, pfapfap might need a KITN for allowing all of the string-raising, but we'll save that for another time... :P
