Beat: Took 13 years when he thought it would only take 2 years
Beat: Broke both his legs
Beat: Almost died
Beat: Attacked by crocodile
Beat: Jailed as a spy
Brag: Lived through it all

Wow what a journey is right. Seems like he was well communicated with the outside world though throughout it all. He had that satellite phone and some sort of laptops. This would have been the only way to keep my sanity.
