Are floormen generally allowed to accept tips?

There's discussion with some frequency about certain players tipping floormen. I've asked floormen about this from time to time and they indicated they were not allowed to accept tips.

Is tipping the floor generally allowed, or just the brush? Most places I play are small enough that there is no brush, just the floor.

[/ QUOTE ] Just put what you want to tip in the palm of your hand, shake the floormans hand, and I bet he can take tips.

Generally yes, but there are a few jurisdictions that do not allow it (Colorado and Miss come to mind).

[/ QUOTE ] There are a few casinos in Mississippi that allow floor to take tips. Gold Strike just started allowing it not too long ago.

You can add AZ to that, but there seems to be a loop hole by which they can accept tips that are pooled between the floor staff... e.g. the tip boxes at both the Fort and CA.

rule of thumb - if you want to tip - tip. The floorman will tell you if he cannot accept it, and often they will be flattered that its your intention even if they cannot accept it - which serves the purpose in locals where tipping is not permitted. Sometimes they will accept it anyway of course.

I tip if I feel like it like TT said.

I play 4/8 live LHE right now and I am very surprised that I am usually the only one that kicks the chiprunner a buck when I buy in. Cheappies!
