LHE in/near Tucson?

I'm going to be in Tucson for a couple of days next week for business. If I can find the time, which may be a big "if" given the other things I need to get done, I'd like to check out one of the local card rooms. Primarily interested in mid-limit HE or mixed games, 15-30 to 40-80. What are my options? BTW, I'll be staying near the airport and won't have a car, so someplace that has a courtesy shuttle or is a reasonable cab ride away would be ideal.

TIA,

Rowboat

Drive up to Phoenix and Casino AZ is your best bet, but seems not likely given your situation.

Tucson sucks BTW

Yeah, I know -- I've read about CAZ and would love to play there, but logistically, that just ain't happening this trip. However, I should have a 2-4 hour chunk at least one of those nights that could be spent playing in Tucson, if such a game exists. I hope to hit CAZ on a future trip, but unfortunately it's not an option this time.

I was passing through Tucson last January and stopped at Desert Diamond. There wasn't any decent mid limit game going. I was pretty dissappointed, so I just played some 3/6 and drank beer. No idea about shuttles, but it would not surprise me. These are basically tents with casinos inside out by the airport.

You shouldn't have any problem with snow like I did.

Thanks, crashjr. At least now I have a name to pursue. And yeah, I don't think snow is going to be an issue this trip.

Desert Diamond and Casino Del Sol both have limit holdem, but nowhere near the limits you are looking to play. Its mostly 3/6 and 4/8, with occasionally 6/12 (not very often). You're only going to find the limits you're looking for @ Casino AZ in Scottsdale. If you decide to slum it, Casino Del Sol is by far the nicer of the two cardrooms. I believe they have a shuttle as well.

Desert Diamond spreads a 20/40 lhe game every thurs starting ~7:00 p.m. It seldom breaks before 3 a.m. There is almost always a 6/12 lhe game spread. 8/16 lhe is consistently spread from friday afternoon through early sun morning. Most of the staff and regulars are friendly there and the food is cheap and edible (but not that good). If you like to drink, be warned the beers are not free. Tucson doesn't have the population to support the games the CAZ offers.

Del Sol is nicer than DD, but it's in the middle of nowhere and getting there takes forever (plus the road there is under construction). DD is right near the airport.

I played at Del Sol in some of the mid level limit games, and I didn't find them that juicy. Also, I was pretty sure there was collusion in their spread limit game. Try the Desert Diamond.

Re: LHE in/near Tucson?

Thanks for all the info! Since I will be at the Courtyard Marriott next to the airport, I'll probably look at the room nearest the airport. I'll be home by Thursday night, so that nixes the 20/40 game, but it sounds like I can find at least *something* to play, should time permit.

Again, thanks for all the good info - much appreciated!
