Internet gambling in Mexico

Going to Mexico for awhile. Would like to play online. Does anyone know the internet gambling laws there?

No specific laws, so you can do whatever you want

I've played in hotel lobbies and in cafes on my laptop without a problem.

All gambling is illegal in Mexico except for some sports betting. There was a recent move to allow casino gaming in Mexico - I have no idea of the state of that effort, but it had fairly broad support in the Congress at the time. I know of no busts for playing on the internet.

What part of the country are you going to?

Cancun is a whole lot like the US with nicer beaches and bluer water and an 18+ drinking age. Wireless access is common in the hotels. I've never really heard of anyone going to Cancun for "a while" though. There isn't much going on there outside of young US tourists doing their best to behave badly and families trying to drop as much as they can going on "excursions" from their all-inclusive hotels. Kinda like Vegas with a beach instead of casinos.

For a side trip, check out Tulum (1.5 hours from Cancun) or Chichen Itza (3 hours from Cancun).

I definitely recommend the trips to the Mayan ruins. If you are going to be in the area for a "while" and you like Mayan ruins, I'd also recommend trips into Belize and to Tikal in Guatemala. For real adventure, take the river route into Guatemala after a trip to Palenque in Chiapas.

Closer to Cancun, Cozumel is pretty cool, and Isla Mujeres is laid back. You will get a lot out of those trips if you are a diver, but if you are a diver then you already knew that.

Ciudad Cancun is not worth the short trip unless you have a specific reason for going there. Also, Yucatecan food is not very good in my opinion, but you will find many American chain food restaurants in Cancun.

No law exists regarding online poker. You can play at any poker site in existence.

Unlike America, Mexico is a free country, and adults are allowed to do what they want with their own money.
