Tunica NLHE regulars
 

Lately I've played quite a bit at the Gold Strike and I see some of the same people. Well actually a lot of the same people.

I was hoping we could get a good thread going talking about some of the regulars to look for.

I'll start with a guy named Ahmad (I'll call him A). He has dark skin like maybe some kind of Arabic decent. He talks like he was born and raised here though. He's maybe 5'9" - 5"10". Maybe early 30's and he said he's from Nashville but I've seen him almost everytime I've been there. I've also noticed he almost always wears a Corona cap.

As far as his play goes A is very tricky. He plays a lot of pots and doesn't like to give anything up. He makes a lot of moves at pots. He will really test your own willingness to go broke. He likes to keep an above average stack so he can do that to most people.

There was a hand I posted about a few weeks ago that A was in. It went something like this.

UTg raises to 7. I'm in MP with QQ I reraise to 27. Next guy raises to 50. BB calls the 50. I don't remember what the flop was except all three cards were lower than a 9. It went check check and the person who raised to 50 bets 100. BB thinks for a bit and the guy who bet 100 clls the clock on him. A finally called and I fold my QQ.

The turn was a 9 and A checked and the other guy went all in for nearly 350 (A had him covered). A thought for quite a while and folded. The other guy showed AA and A showed 10-10.

That hand doesn't illustrate how great he is but the fact that he appeared to come close to calling a big bet with a marginal hand.

I should have also said that I believe A was really wanting to set up the guy with AA for hours before that hand. Earlier A called the clock on the other guy just to tilt him some. That guy wasn't a very good player but had a lot of gamble to him. I think A saw that and was trying to get a bigger edge on him.

Hopefully in the future I'll learn to assess players better and make those assessments easier to read and understand.

I think I know who you are talking about. I've played with a guy that meets that description a couple of times but this guy plays tighter from what I remember. I've also seen him wear hats sometimes & other times not. Does he have any other distinguishing charateristics? Beard/goatee, glasses, long/short hair, etc??

I have a feeling that he's a member here but not sure.

He's pretty cool, sometimes talkative but not in an immature way. His hair is short but not military type short. Until I messed with him forever his stadard raise was $11. Never anything different unless there was more than 1 caller in front of him.

Now your turn Brad. Just don't do "the real good looking fairly heavy guy with a beard". Unless it's all compliments.

For the life of me I can't remember if he has some facial hair on the chin or not. I know he doesn't have a mustache or a full beard.

My descriptions won't get us very far.
But I definitely see the same people there every time I go which is like once a month at most.

Haven't been bumping into quite so many of the same people from a few mths ago though.


Roland is an older guy I think with a grey mustache who keeps a big stack at the table and will like to test you for your stack too. I've played 2/5 with him at both GS and HS.
I think he likes to portray an image of being kind of a crazy-ish player when he shows up to the table and then slows down some and plays slightly more conservatively.
He can be pretty tricky though and I don't exactly look forward to having him at the table as I think he's prettgy difficult to figure out sometimes.

There's also some guy perhaps in his late 20's or so with a shaved head and glasses who plays a fairly typical tight/solid/possibly unimaginative game.
Never seen him bluff. I see him there almost every single day I'm around.
I think he lives in a room at the Gold Strike. Possibly a New Orleans Katrina evacuee but not positive on that.

Will Mac - An older guy who is tighter than the image of older guys. He's late 60's early 70's super nice guy. He kind of looks the part of the grumpy old guy though. He's not nitty at all. He's willing to gamble it up. I've seen him bluff one hand. Who knows he may bluff all the time I only saw him get caught once though.

I consider him so tight that I was not only scared but very scared in this hand :

We both had about $300 behind. I was ep and limped with Ak knowing someone would raise and I could go from there. Well the one hand noone raises in like 20.... Five see a flop including Will Mac. Flop was K-4-x rainbow. I bet 20 folded to Will in last position and he called. Right there I knew I was in trouble because he had to have 2 pair with me not raising. The turn brought my lovely A with no FD's. I bet 50 and will miniraised me. I folded and he showed me a set of 4's.

That doesn't mean anything except I knew how tight he was.

I know who he is. I don't think I've ever played with him though but he comes in there with his wife. I have played with her before. They usually split their time between the 2 casinos. He doesn't say much at the table. From what I've heard, he's all business when he's in a pot.

...and he does bring a big stack to the table from what I've seen.
